Bozze vergate a mano su un quadernone tra un viaggio e l’altro sui binari che separano Roma e Napoli, sempre più periferia qualificata della Capitale.

Tema di questo romanzo d’esordio è la vita dei pendolari, categoria sociale nata per necessità certo non per volontà. Carichi di dignità, sogni, pensieri e retropensieri, su vagoni che diventano una propaggine della propria casa lasciata all’alba con figli, mogli e mariti ancora al caldo delle lenzuola.

Il risultato finale è un libro – Guida editori – delicato e profondo allo stesso tempo, che toglie la maschera a chi la indossa per coprire la propria mediocrità, che ci riporta all’essenzialità della vita, alla sua intima ragion d’essere.

“Lato finestrino” invita a guardare negli occhi le persone, ad ascoltarle senza presunzione, ad abbozzare un sorriso anche quando non vorresti, ad essere se stessi. In mezzo, l’escamotage narrativo di un evento straordinario che sconvolge la vita di questi pendolari in balìa di ciò che accade fuori dal finestrino.

Sinossi

Napoli, Stazione Centrale, binario 16.

Un clochard dorme mentre un esercito di pendolari si prepara a salire sul consueto treno delle 6 che li condurrà a Roma per lavoro. Ciascuno partirà portando con sé la propria storia, i desideri, i rimpianti, i sogni e persino le bugie che, una volta seduti in quei vagoni, proveranno a nascondere dietro gli schermi luminosi degli smartphone o addormentandosi accanto ad un vicino di cui non incroceranno neanche lo sguardo.

Il viaggio comincia sotto una violenta tempesta che i passeggeri sembrano non percepire affatto, incuranti di ciò che li circonda e ignari di quello che sta per accadere.

In un secondo esatto, un evento straordinario destabilizzerà la corsa del treno e le vite di alcuni passeggeri.

E’ accaduto qualcosa di sbalorditivo.

Solo alcuni di loro proveranno a capire.

Solo quelli abituati a guardare oltre.

Solo quelli capaci di ascoltare.

Solo quelli disposti a scrutare dentro loro stessi.

Solo quelli pronti a guardare fuori dal finestrino.

Giusy Cigni, classe ’81, è nata a Napoli dove vive con marito e due figli. Insegnante da 16 anni, pendolare per dovere, scrittrice per piacere. Coltiva da sempre la passione per l’archeologia e le civiltà classiche, messa in crisi solo dalla saga di “Ritorno al futuro”.
